Credit Card FAQ

Life Insurance:

What does a life insurance application process involve?
Sample case:
Once you select an insurance company and rate, you then can request an application by filling out an application request form.

Once you request the insurance application, a licensed agent from insurance brokerage will contact you and set up a convenient appointment for a no-charge physical exam. The physical exam can take place in your home or office, and is performed by a medical professional at no cost to you (the insurance company pays for the exam).

Upon completion of the application and physical exam, the insurance brokerage will submit the information to the underwriting insurance company. Four to eight weeks are required for the life insurance company to underwrite and issue the policy.

What is Term life insurance?
Term life insurance is life insurance coverage at a guaranteed rate for a specified period of time. (Example: 30 year level term would guarantee a level premium for 30 years based on a specified death benefit). Term life insurance is usually the least expensive form of life coverage.

What is APR?
APR is the Annual Percentage Rate. The APR is a measure of the cost of credit, expressed as a yearly rate. When the rate is tied to an economic index that changes, it is called a "variable rate." If it is does not change, it is called a "fixed rate."

I have a card, how can I protect it?

  • Report lost or stolen cards immediately.
  • Sign your card on the back signature panel.
  • Don't leave your credit cards in the glove compartment of your car. Many thefts occur from glove compartments.
  • Never write down your PIN—memorize it.
  • Always check the bill for the right amount before you sign it. Keep your copy.
  • Always check your billing statement and make sure you made all the purchases on it.
  • Make a complete list of all your cards and their numbers. Store the list in a safe place.
  • Don't volunteer any personal information when you use your credit card, other than by displaying personal ID as requested by a merchant.
  • Don't lend your card to anybody. You are responsible for its use. Some credit card problems originate with family and friends.
  • Never disclose your PIN to anyone. No one from a financial institution, the police, or a merchant should ever ask for your PIN.

What should I look out for when buying by phone or mail?

  • Always make sure that you write down the date & time and the full name, address, and phone number of the person trying to sell you something.
  • Ask questions. A legitmate telemarketer should be able to answer most questions.
  • If your in doubt, contact the Better Business Bureau to check on the company before giving your credit card number.
